Rules and Regulations

Tournament Format

  • The tournament shall be a one-round robin affair, with the top eight teams advancing to the quarterfinals.
  • In the event of a two-way tie, the winner-over-the-other rule shall be used to determine final placings.
  • In the event of a three-way tie, the quotient system shall be used. Quotient shall be computed using the scores of the games involving the teams in the tie only.
  • For the quarterfinals, the pairings will be as follows: 1st vs. 8th, 2nd vs. 7th, 3rd vs. 6th, and 4th vs. 5th. The teams placed first to fourth shall have a twice-to-beat advantage over their opponents. The winners of these pairings will advance to the semifinals.
  • For the semifinals, the winner of the 1st-8th pairing will play the winner of the 4th-5th pairing, and the winner of the 2nd-7th pairing will play the winner of the 3rd-6th pairing. The winners will then meet in a best-of-three finals.

  • Teams are encouraged to request in advance any preferred game schedule. Organizers shall try as best they can to accommodate any and all requests.
  • Once the schedule of games has been released, a team has 48 hours after release to request for a change of schedule with the tournament organizers (Sidney Ventura or Allan Gregorio). Any requests made after this time period must be addressed to Ernie De Leon.
